Company Overview
Situated on the north shore of Long Island in western Suffolk County, Northport? East Northport is a dynamic, active community boasting a pleasant blend of quiet suburban living with easy access to the nation’s largest city, New York.
Originally called “Great Cow Harbor,” a reference to the cows pastured at the harbor’s mouth, the village adopted the official name of Northport in 1837 and still remains a lively, water?oriented village. An attractive waterside park adorns the harbor, with Main Street retaining much of the charm and quaintness of the 19th century. Four elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school comprise the Northport?East Northport School District.
OUR SCHOOL
Northport High School is home to more than 1,700 students in grades 9?12 who regularly engage in a wide variety of instructional, co?curricular and extracurricular activities, many of which are unique to our school community. Our faculty of over 200 professionals is our greatest resource and is comprised of 180 educators holding master’s degrees and 6 holding doctorates or doctorates
of law. Following in our tradition of excellence, all teachers are required to participate in ongoing professional development emphasizing best practices. Our educational curriculum challenges students through a variety of programs including, but not limited to: International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, Academy of Information Technology, PLTW Engineering, Academy of Finance,
science research, law related education, Project Advance, theater, dance and our unique environment team. Opportunities exist for students to work closely with faculty members in varied specialties. Experiential learning is another hallmark of Northport High School, as students take advantage of our elective programs in the fine arts, crafts, music, technology, business, and family and consumer sciences. Northport High School continues to offer our students a wealth of offerings seen nowhere else. We are proud to see our students take advantage of these opportunities and use them as stepping stones toward a rich and rewarding life beyond high school.
