Anticipated Vacancy:
Principal
(1.0 FTE)
LOCATION(S): Career and Technical Institute
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Requires a Master's degree with a major in a relevant field (e.g., Curriculum, Secondary Education, Career & Technology Education) and a Master's degree is often preferred.
Certification: Requires a valid New York State Administrative Certificate, (SBL,SDL).
Experience: Significant experience in CTE teaching or related fields is often required.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate staff.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with current industry trends and workforce needs.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITES:
Program Leadership: Leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of CTE programs.
Personnel Management: Supervising and supporting CTE teachers, including those with strong technical skills but potentially needing pedagogical development.
Resource Management: Ensuring access to necessary equipment, materials, and technology for effective instruction.
Curriculum Alignment: Aligning CTE programs with New York State standards, including academic and career-related competencies.
Industry Partnerships: Collaborating with industry advisory committees to ensure program relevance and student readiness for the workforce.
Student Support: Fostering student success in both academic and career-related areas, potentially through individual student plans.
Compliance: Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including civil rights laws, related to CTE programs.
Professional Development: Providing ongoing professional development opportunities for CTE staff.
Program Approval: Working with the NYS Education Department on CTE program approval and re-approval processes.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating with parents, community members, and other stakeholders about CTE programs.
GRADE LEVEL: Secondary.
